Global Maritimes
Owner: Shaw Media.Global Maritimes was first launched on September 5, 1988. At that time CIHF-TV was the only over-the-air independent television station in the area. It was purchased in September 1994 by Canwest Media Inc. and since the rebrand in 2006 has been known in the community as Global Maritimes.
Seventeen transmitters and an extensive fiber network provide coverage to 91% of the population in the Maritimes. Global Maritimes operates from a central studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with sales and news bureaus in Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton, and a news bureau in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Their regional head office is located in Halifax.
